I discovered a patch of particularly mesmerising hellebores. This was quite a coincidence, as I’d only just learned their name not twenty minutes previously. My auntie all the way in Philadelphia, pointed them out in her garden over facetime. “Aren’t they pretty?” Now seeing these ones here in the flesh, I can tell you they are indeed very pretty!
Even in this patch alone, there was so much variation to be seen within each bloom. Patterned petals of maroon, lilac and pink burst from their seeded centres like fireworks.
